Welcome to Vanceboro Farm Life Elementary School, the home of the Raiders!
I believe that educating a child involves many stakeholders including parents, school staff, and community. If a child is guaranteed to succeed at school, each of these components must play a positive role in the student's upbringing. It is my job to guarantee the success for each child at our school. Our staff and I will do our best to help ensure the other two stakeholders, parents and community, are a successful component to the student's educational needs.
I have a diverse educational background. I graduated with my associates degree from Pitt Community College where I played baseball for the Bulldogs. After PCC, I attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and graduated with a Public Policy Analysis degree. After working in the business world for a couple of years, I attended Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary where I received a Masters of Divinity. After teaching for a few years, I received another masters degree in School Administration from East Carolina University. Currently, I am at University of North Carolina at Wilmington pursuing a doctorate in educational leadership.
I began my educational career as a Social Studies teacher at Kinston High School. While at Kinston High School, I served as the Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) coordinator, Small Learning Communities coordinator, Assistant Athletic Director, and Coach.
I began my administrative career at Beddingfield High School, in Wilson County, as an assistant principal. While at Beddingfield, I was a small part of a team of administrators, teachers, and most importantly, students who helped lead a major academic turnaround at the school. What was once labeled a turnaround school in 2007, Beddingfield became a School of Distinction in the 2010-11 school year. I finished my tenure in Wilson County Schools at James B. Hunt High School. Before becoming principal at Vanceboro Farm Life Elementary School, I served a short stint as an assistant principal at Greene Central High School.
I am married to Emily Tribula who is in her fifteenth year as an elementary teacher. We have a four year old daughter Caroline, who is the love of my life. Caroline quickly displaced our first child, Thunder, our eight-year old labrador retriever.
I am honored to be principal at Vanceboro Farm Life. We have an active community, rich traditions, eager students, and a fantastic staff. Our staff is honored to serve the students of Vanceboro and its surrounding communities. Will you partner with us to make this the best school in Craven County?
